Biomechanics

Anything to do with shoulder biomechanics.

Does affection of isometric strength of force couples of shoulder affects recruitment of the same?

Many study reveals isometric strength affection, but does it lead to altered recruitment of shoulder muscles especially the force couples.

left - right correlations for shoulder range of motion

Because of a difference of opinion between a statistician and myself, I have been looking for information on the relationship between the arm range of motion for left versus right, or maybe dominant versus non-dominant.
The statistician claims that left - right data are highly correlated and should therefore be treated as within-subject factor. He could be right, but what I am looking for now is a set of data that does not prove that left differs from right, but that actually indicates these are highly correlated. Does anybody have those data?

scapulohumeral rhythm and humeroscapular rhythm

I have seen the terms scapulohumeral rhythm and
humeroscapular rhythm being used in articles and they appear to be the same
thing but I am not sure. I know the words are switched of course but I am
wondering if they refer to the same thing. For example, humeroscapular
rhythm refers to how the humerus moves in relation to the scapula but is
scapulohumeral rhythm the same or is it only referred to in a specific arm
movement (or in relation to the muscles) ?

Do you know if they are the same?

Thank you

SIS or SAIS? Are they the same?

Would you classify the term shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS) as meaning the same as the term subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS)? They appear to be the same in a number of separate articles that I have read though I wonder if SIS in an umbrella term for shoulder issues like SAIS. Are they one and the same?

transducer for quantifying torsion

Hi All,
I am looking for a implantable transducer, which can measure the torsion of a tendon.
Can implantable force transducers measure this? I read in a tissue engineering book (Chapter by An) that depending on the shape (S or E) the buckle transducer can measure shear. I tried looking for the details of this in the references but was not successful.
any one who can guide/ help me with this??
Amit
