The ISG is a technical group of the International Society of Biomechanics, and aims to enhance shoulder research by creating a platform for discussion and the exchange of information, software and data.

ISG2010 Abstract deadline extended

The deadline for submission of abstracts for ISG2010 has been extended to February 5th. Abstracts should be sent to sark0056@umn.edu by this date. More details can be found on the conference website: http://www.inail-starter.org/ISG2010.html.

Also, see the attached flyer.

Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit abstracts for presentation at the 2010 ISG conference. Abstracts in all areas of shoulder biomechanics are of interest including basic science, engineering, and clinical science.

For further details and to download an abstract template, go to http://www.inail-starter.org/ISG2010.html. The deadline for submission of abstracts is January 15th 2010.

ISG meeting at upcoming ISB

The International Shoulder Group invites all its members and all interested delegates to take part in a 1-hour discussion during the up-coming ISB meeting in Cape Town, about the following two topics:

  1. definition of standardized protocol for upper-limb motion analysis - a follow-up on the 2005 proposal paper: does it work? Chairman: DirkJan Veeger
  2. agreement between shoulder models prediction and experimental evidences: mechanical optimality versus physiological optimality. Chairman: Jurriaan De Groot.

The discussion will take place on Wednesday, July 8th, Kremer Building, Room #4, starting at 5.45pm.
After the discussion, it might be nice to have dinner together.

To ease the organisation, please let me know (ag.cutti@inail.it) if you think you'll attend the discussion and/or dinner.

Looking forward to seeing you.

ISG 2008 proceedings published in Medical & Biological Engineering and Computing

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I can inform you that the international journal "Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing" (Springer) has just published a Special Issue on Shoulder Biomechanics (Vol. 47, No. 5), gathering some of the works presented at our last meeting in Bologna. Among the papers,

Blana D et al "Combined feedforward and feedback control of a redundant, non-linear, dynamic musculoskeletal system"

and

Steenbrink F et al "Arm load magnitude affects selective shoulder muscle activation"

have been awarded with the two Young Investigator Awards sponsored by the Biomedical Engineering Group of the University of Bologna and Springer Verlag, and are "Open Access".

Kindest Regards,

Andrea G. Cutti
