ISG Events at ISB

Dear Friends,

Based on your replies we got in touch with the ISB organizers to arrange a session on Shoulder Biomechanics at the ISB 2009. Moreover, we asked the organizers for a room to have a discussion about these two topics, plus others that will come:

  1. Definition of standardized protocol for upper-limb motion analysis: a follow-up on the 2005 proposal paper: does it work?
  2. Agreement between shoulder models prediction and experimental evidence: is it not time to start validating?

As for point 1, we think the following papers might be useful for the discussion:

  • Wu et al - ISB standard
  • Kontaxis et al (2009) A framework for the definition of standardized protocols for measuring upper-extremity kinematics. Clin Biomech (Bristol, Avon). 2009 Feb 4. [Epub ahead of print] - PMID: 19200628

If you have others, just write me and I'll collect the sugestions.

DirkJan also proposed having an informal breakfast or lunch with both students and senior members of the ISG. This can be a nice chance to know better each other and for students to ask questions in a very informal situation.

Finally, as now we all have received the decisions about our abstract, it would be good to know how many of us will be at the conference. For this and other suggestions, just write me.

Interest in special session at ISB?

Hi all,

The ISB meeting will be held in Capetown, South Africa, in July. Some representatives of the ISG will be attending and were wondering whether there would be interest in a special session. Therefore if you would consider the following questions we would be most grateful:

  1. Are you planning to attend the conference?
  2. Do you think it is a good idea to ask the organizers for a special session on shoulder and upper-extremity biomechanics?
  3. Do you think it is a good idea to organize at the conference a round-table about the "definition of standard protocols for movement analysis"?

Please reply to these questions by leaving a comment to this post or emailing Andrea Cutti (agcutti@alice.it).

Call for bids to host next meeting

After this year's very successful meeting in Bologna, we are still looking for a site for the 2010 meeting of the ISG. We try to switch between continents, which implies that the 2010 meeting should preferably take place outside Europe, for instance somewhere in the Americas. There is a tentative offer from Minneapolis, but other offers are still welcome!

If you would like to host the 2010 ISG meeting, please let us know before October 1st. This can be done by sending an email to: H_E_J_Veeger@fbw.vu.nl which should include a brief description of your plan, such as place, time, and facilities.

ISG 2008 registration now open

Dear Friends,

Two important news items regarding ISG 2008:

  1. On Friday we sent out all the acceptance letters for the abstracts received for the conference. If you sent an abstract and didn't receive a letter, please send an email to isg2008@inail-starter.org.
  2. REGISTRATION is NOW open. Just open this link in a new window: www.inail-starter.org/ISG2008Registration.aspx. Please register by MARCH 31st to confirm your presentation. In case of problems, email isg2008@inail-starter.org.

Looking forward to seeing you in Bologna.

Kind Regards,

Revised date for ISG 2008 notification of acceptance

Dear Friends,

Due to the 2 week postponement of the deadline for the submission of the abstracts, we had to slightly postpone the date for the notification of acceptance as well. The new date is therefore next Friday, February 29th.

Kind Regards,
